Contrary to what the less expert in the sector may think, the storage of the semi-finished product constitutes a very important phase of the production cycle. Immediately after production, the semi-finished product is kept in such conditions that it no longer comes into contact with dust, humidity and/or atmospheric agents. .
This particular attention to the storage process ensures that the excellent quality of the semi-finished product is kept unchanged over time inside the GEM warehouse. In this way the semi-finished product produced by GEM and kept in optimal conditions inside the warehouse minimizes production defects and is even able to guarantee the perfect success of the subsequent processing phases; thus enhancing the perfection of the glazing and the brilliance of the colors and of the decoration in the finished ceramic product.
“TERRACOTTA” IS A LIVE MATERIAL and is therefore subject to changes in the surrounding environment, especially in terms of heat and humidity. For example, if the storage environment is subject to dust of various kinds, the dust deposited in the winter on the pores of the semi-finished product will be absorbed by the product in the summer as a result of the expansion of the pores as the temperature increases; this will make the product more subject to “defects” in the subsequent processing stages (imperfections in the glazing or in the design).
From here we can deduce the importance, not only of the quality in the phases of the semi-finished product production cycle, but also the very importance of the storage of the product which must be extremely careful to ensure the perfect stability of the packaged pieces to make them “excellent” for subsequent processing steps.
